 THE LIBRARY WELCOME TO THE LIBRARY. this is a space where i intend to keep a small database of books and movies i like. includes small descriptions and possibly some of my thoughts.  as far as books, i am a big fan of classic lit, fantasy, and light science fiction work. movies wise, i like horror, docudramas, and slasher films. i also have a seperate page for music that i like, if that is something you are interested in. |

BOOKS The Once and Future King - T.H. White: A collection of the works of T.H. White which are based on the original French text Le Mort D'Arthur. Includes The Sword in the Stone, The Queen of Air and Darkness, The Ill-Made Knight (my favorite!), and The Candle in the Wind. The stories begin as light-hearted tales, but over time, build up into a powerful emotional climax. Too long and complex to make a summary on a page like this, but this is one of my favorite books of all time.
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte: The classic story about love, hate, and betrayal on the Yorkshire Moor, in which the affairs between two wealthy families lead to the decay of both estates. The love story between Heathcliff and Catherine is one of the most twisted and tragic tales I've ever read.
Frankenstien - Mary Shelley: Arguably the birth of science fiction, in which Victor Frankenstien creates his monster and abandons it in his horror at its ghastly appearence. His decision to leave the monster leads to dire consequences for himself and his friends.
Roadside Picnic - Arkady and Boris Strugatsky: A science fiction story which takes place after extra-terrestials visit Earth, leaving behind six zones containing supernatural objects and phenomena. Follows Red, a man who enters these zones in order to collect these objects for money. A sad tale about human signifigance and the meaning of happiness.
The Silmarillion - J.R.R Tolkien: A text detailing the beginning of the history of Arda, the world in which The Lord of the Rings later takes place. I prefer this text to The Lord of the Rings, largely beacuse I find The Lord of the Rings to be a bit verbose and long-winded at times. The Silmarillion, in comparison, is a very dense text, in which many names and events are recounted.
The Absolute at Large - Karel Čapek: A conceptual tale in which a machine is created that can burn matter down completely in order to generate energy efficiently. This process releases a substance called the Absolute, which inspires religious fervor in those exposed to it. This soon causes worldwide economic and political chaos.
